The component e.g. self-supporting wall element (W), has a reinforcement layer extending parallel to an outer side (A), which faces away from an interior of a furnace. The component is produced from pourable fire-resistant mass in one piece and cast from multiple layers with decreasing heat resistance. The reinforcement layer is made of steel grid and/or metal fibers. Another reinforcement layer is provided between the former reinforcement layer and an inner side, and made of glass and/or ceramic fiber mat. A third reinforcement layer is provided proximity to the inner side. An independent claim is also included for a kit for manufacturing a furnace.
