<p>In metallic components used in mechanical engineering design, particularly in motors, pumps, compressors or power plant systems, and which are manufactured using known casting and injection molding methods, it is frequently required that cavities be provided in cast or injection molded parts, for example channels for cooling media or lubricants. Furthermore, the shaping of a cast or injection molded part by undercutting can be hindered. In both cases, soluble cores are particularly suitable as placeholders of such cavities. As a device for self-supporting placement of a core in the mold of a casting device, said core able to be dissolved by a liquid solvent, the invention proposes that the device is a supporting tube (3), that the at least one supporting tube (3) has a reduced cylindrical part (5) and that this part (5) inserts into the core (1) and holds the core.</p> |
