<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing p-xylene with high p-xylene selectivity, from ethylene, i.e., a starting material by causing ethylene to contact a catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: The method of producing p-xylene by allowing a raw material composed of ethylene as its main component to contact a catalyst in a reactor, preferably in a gas phase, is characterized in that the active component of the catalyst is a zeolite and the amount of acids present on the outer surface of the zeolite is not higher than 1% relative to the amount of the acids present in the whole zeolite. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
