The system has a holding device (1) for holding flat articles and comprising a rotatably supported shaft (2). The shaft has bristles (3) for exclusive transmission of force that holds the articles. Another holding device holds a lockable slot hole, where the shaft is supported in the slot hole. The shaft is driven in a transport direction. The bristles are arranged completely on an outer surface (4) of the shaft. The bristles comprise a material e.g. polypropylene, polyvinylidene fluoride, polybutylene terephthalate, rubber and natural fibers. The shaft has a cover made of PVC. An independent claim is also included for a method for transporting a flat article.
