A method and system for accessing a Home NodeB by a user equipment are disclosed in the present invention. When the user equipment moves into a service area of a restricted Home NodeB by which it is not authorized, the above-mentioned method includes that: the user equipment learns through detection that the Home NodeB to which the service area, into which it moves, belongs is a restricted Home NodeB (S501); the user equipment sends a message to a core network, wherein the message carries the current location information of the user equipment (S503); the user equipment receives a paging request initiated by the core network and sets up the connection with the restricted Home NodeB, wherein the paging request is initiated through a Home NodeB subsystem corresponding to the location information when the core network obtains downlink data that needs to be sent to the user equipment (S505). According to the technical solution provided by the present invention, the above-mentioned user equipment can be effectively paged, thus making the communication successful and avoiding the waste of paging resource effectively.
