PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide bioabsorbable suture thread which includes chitin, chitosan or a derivative of them as a material and enables decomposition speed to be easily controlled in accordance with the purpose or the intended use. SOLUTION: The bioabsorbable suture thread is manufactured from monofilament or multifilament which is spun from a spinning dope including one or two or more components selected from chitin, chitosan and a derivative of them and a degradative enzyme of the components and makes the degradative enzyme coexist on the surface of or in the suture thread.
