PRINTER FOR PRINTING IMAGES AND CHARACTERS ON NON-PAPER MEDIUM

A printer for printing images and characters on a non-paper medium is disclosed, which comprises: a strip-shaped printing unit (1) that has an ink head (2), a guide device (3) and an ink head motor reciprocatingly moving the ink head along a longitudinal direction of the printing unit; a print object bearing device (4); a base (5), one of the printing unit (1) and the print object bearing device (4) is mounted on the base (5) and the other is mounted on a rail (6) of the base (5); a stepper motor; a transmission belt (7) that is connected with the stepper motor directly or through a speed shifting mechanism; a control device that controls the cooperating movement of the ink head motor and the stepper motor by outputting signals and performs the cleaning process of the ink head (2) of the printer and a printing process; a clutch mechanism for clamping the transmission belt and a corresponding triggering mechanism that are provided on the movable one of the printing unit (1) and print object bearing device (4) with respect to the base (5). The triggering mechanism triggers the clutch mechanism according to a signal of cleaning the ink head (2) sent by the control device or the movement of the ink head (2) triggered by the signal.
