<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image display quality by reducing afterimage phenomenon of a display image in a plasma display panel. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a method for driving a plasma display panel by providing, in one field, a plurality of sub-fields each having a write-in period and a sustaining period and by driving them and performing gradation display, wherein the plasma display panel includes a plurality of discharge cells which forms one pixel and each of which has a pair of display electrodes composed of a scanning electrode and a sustaining electrode and has a data electrode. The method includes: dividing a display region of the plasma display panel into a plurality of regions; calculating the degree of afterimage for each region based on a gradation value of brightness set to each pixel in accordance with an image signal; calculating the degree of afterimage for each pixel based on the degree of afterimage for each region; and changing a gradation value of brightness of each pixel based on the degree of afterimage for each pixel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
