<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of actuating an exhaust-gas lambdasonde in an exhaust gas canal of a dilution-operated internal combustion engine, and a control device therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust-gas lambdasonde includes a first electrode disposed in a gas measurement chamber connected to the exhaust gas canal and a second electrode disposed in a reference gas canal connected to the first electrode through an oxygen ion-conductive solid electrolyte. According to the concentration of oxygen in the measurement chamber, a positive or negative pump current is induced corresponding to oxygen = an ion current (O<SP>2-</SP>m) from the measurement chamber to the reference gas canal and oxygen = an ion current (O<SP>2-</SP>f) from the reference gas canal to the measurement chamber. Oxygen = a filling level in the reference gas canal is calculated by integration by an oxygen measuring instrument from a pump current corresponding to oxygen = the ion currents (O<SP>2-</SP>m, O<SP>2-</SP>f). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
