PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic semiconductor thin film wherein an orientation of the organic semiconductor thin film is controlled only on the surface thereof, and to provide a method for controlling an orientation of an organic semiconductor, capable of suppressing damage on an organic semiconductor as compared with plasma treatment.

SOLUTION: The organic semiconductor thin film has an orientation layer at least on one surface thereof. In the method for controlling the orientation of the organic semiconductor thin film, the orientation control of an organic semiconductor is performed by irradiating a thin film formed of the organic semiconductor with a neutral particle beam.
