PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a producing apparatus for more increasing secondary combustion efficiency when producing molten metal by directly reduction-melting a lumpy metal raw material layer with an electric heating furnace. SOLUTION: Raw material charging chutes 4,4 at both edge parts 2,2 in the furnace width direction, electrodes 7 at the center part in the furnace width side and secondary combustion burners 6 at the furnace roof part 1 having downward stepping portion toward the electrodes 5 from both edge parts 2,2 in the furnace width direction, are respectively set, and a raw material filling-up layer 12 having downward inclining surface toward the lower part of the electrodes 5 is previously formed by charging carbonaceous material A from the chutes 4, 4. Successively, the lumpy metal raw material B is charged to form the lumpy metal raw material layer 13 on the inclining surface of the raw material filling-up layer 12, and thereafter, the lower end part of the lumpy metal raw material layer 13 is melted in order by performing arc-heating with the electrodes 5 to produce molten iron and also, while dropping the lumpy metal raw material layer 13 along the inclining surface of the raw material filling-up layer 12, CO-containing gas generated from the lumpy metal raw material layer 13 is burnt with oxygen-containing gas C blown from the secondary combustion burner 6 and the lumpy metal raw material layer 13 is heated with this radiated heat.
