PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a curtain coating apparatus and a curtain coating method, by which the distortion of a curtain film due to a teapot effect that is a phenomenon peculiar to a curtain coating method can be avoided, a varied falling position due to the disturbance of a curtain film can be suppressed, and a phenomenon of thinning a film and a phenomenon of thickening a film can be suppressed simultaneously. SOLUTION: The curtain coating apparatus, enabling a pair of edge guides to support both side edges for applying at least one type of coating liquid onto a continuously running support by forming a coating liquid film resulting from free falling of the coating liquid, includes an auxiliary water introduction port which allows auxiliary water to be introduced substantially uniformly with respect to a width direction of an edge guide auxiliary water flow-down surface of each edge guide from an upper portion toward a lower portion of the flow-down surface, wherein the flow-down surface has at its upper portion an approximately plane flat surface portion, and has at its lower portion an arc-shaped portion which is provided at a center, so as to protrude in the shape of an arc, and a flat surface portion which is provided on both sides of the arc-shaped portion with respect to a width direction.
