PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable particulate sensing element for detecting concentration of PM included in measuring object gas by a simple configuration, suppressing deposition of PM to a non-heated region unheatable by a heating element, reducing heating time in regeneration, or lowering heating temperature for improving durability. SOLUTION: The particulate sensing element 10 which includes: a detection part 100 exposed to the measuring object gas and having a pair of opposing detection electrodes 11, 12 with a prescribed interval on the surface of an electrical insulating heat-resistant substrate 13; and the heating element 140 heating the detection part 100 to a prescribed temperature, detects the concentration of the conductive fine particles PM in the measuring object gas 600, and has a catalyst layer 20 which can oxidize the conductive fine particles PM at least at a part exposed to the measuring object gas 600.
