PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust device for an internal combustion engine, suppressing an increase in a sound pressure level caused by the air column resonance of a tail pipe by a simple structure without requiring complex control while reducing an increase in weight and an increase in manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: A part of the downstream opening end 28b of the tail pipe 28 is closed, a swing plate 41 is provided for changing the opening cross sectional area of a passage by being swung by an exhaust flow, and a movable weight 46 is provided for applying a load to the swing of the swing plate 41 when the swing plate 41 is swung to a side downstream of a vertical lowermost position. Thereby, the increase in weight of the exhaust device 20 and the increase in the manufacturing cost thereof are reduced while suppressing an increase in back pressure of exhaust gas and occurrence of flow noise, the increase in the sound pressure level caused by the air column resonance is suppressed by the simple structure without adding the complex control, and also the air column resonance is suppressed without depending on the travelling condition of a vehicle.
