<p>The solid state chemistry of 17β-N-[2,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]carbamoyl-4-aza-5-α-androst-1-en-3-one of which the international nonproprietary name is Dutasteride (the active ingredient in products marketed as Avodart, Avidart, Avolve, Duagen, Dutas, Dutagen, Duprost) and its process for preparing. The synthetic process comprises formation of the mixed anhydride, its subsequent reaction with 2,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenylamine in the presence of an appropriate Lewis catalyst and its isolation, purification and crystallization from acetonitrile/water.</p> |
