PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rare gas fluorescent lamp to show stable light emitting characteristics wherein a light emitting spectrum continuously has high intensity. SOLUTION: The rare gas fluorescent lamp 1 has an arc tube 11 of which an inner surface is coated with a phosphor 12 and a pair of outside electrodes 13, 14 arranged at an outside of the arc tube 11. In the lamp, the phosphor 12 is composed of both a blue light emitting phosphor and a yellow light emitting phosphor. As for an emission light output from the rare gas fluorescent lamp, a peak intensity of spectrum for a continuous light emitting part at a short wavelength side and a peak intensity of a continuous emitting part at a long wavelength side, respectively, are within a±20% range of the average value between the peak intensity of the short wavelength side and that of the long wavelength side.
