PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PDP in which even if a protective layer receives ion sputtering by driving for a long time, change of a protective layer surface on a bus electrode on a scanning electrode to carry out write-in discharge is suppressed, and change of discharge characteristics such as write-in characteristics is suppressed. SOLUTION: In a plasma display panel that has a front face plate in which the scanning electrode and a sustaining electrode form a discharge gap and are formed in a plurality of numbers as a display electrode pair, and a rear face plate in which a plurality of data electrodes and a barrier rib are formed, and that is constituted by oppositely arranging the front face plate and the rear face plate so that the display electrode pair and the data electrodes may cross, the display electrode has a laminate structure of a transparent electrode and the bus electrode, the sustaining electrode is constituted of a band electrode and a band transparent electrode, and the scanning electrode is constituted of the band electrode and the transparent electrode having a shape of protruding in the longitudinal direction and the perpendicular direction of the scanning electrode so as to form the discharge gap of respective discharge cells.
