<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid composition having excellent liquid contacting property with a liquid composition housing member in storage, capable of suppressing the scraping of a protective layer of a heating resistor in continuous discharge and obtaining an image having high optical density when used with ink containing a coloring material. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid composition used in combination with the ink containing a coloring material is ejected by the action of thermal energy from a recording head including a heating resistor having a protecting layer that contains at least one of a metal and a metal oxide as a layer coming into contact with the liquid composition.
