<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of performing energy-saving operation while achieving a comfortable air-conditioned space. <P>SOLUTION: The air conditioner includes an image pickup device detecting the presence or absence of an obstacle. An area to be air-conditioned is divided into a plurality of obstacle position determining areas.
