PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer which can prevent a diameter enlarging keeping section from displacing with respect to a lock ring when the diameter enlarging keeping section is inserted between both ends of splitting section of the lock ring. SOLUTION: A spacer 30 has a diameter enlarging keeping section 31 sandwiched between both ends of the splitting section of the lock ring and a handling section 32 continuously arranged from the diameter enlarging keeping section 31 to the outside of socket opening section, wherein inserting grooves 34 are formed in both sides of the diameter enlarging keeping section 31, the inserting groove 34 has a pair of guiding surfaces 35b mutually faced in a depth T direction of the diameter enlarging keeping section 31, and both ends of the splitting section of the lock ring are free to be inserted/extracted between the pair of guiding surfaces 35b of the inserting groove 34 in the axis direction B of the pipe.
