PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of preventing the occurrence of image defect; and to provide an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The fixing device 50 includes a fixing roller 51, a plurality of rollers 52a-52c, a pressing pad 54, and a slide sheet 55. The separation roller 52c and the pressing pad 54 press the fixing belt 53 toward the fixing roller 51 side to form a nip region N. When a paper sheet P on which an image is formed passes the nip region N, the formed image is fixed to the paper sheet. The pressing pad 54 is formed into a wedge shape protruding toward the separation roller 52c side. The slide sheet 55 has a projection part 55a projecting beyond the wedge-shaped end of the of pressing pad 54, and a projection amount A of the pressing surface side of the fixing roller 51 in the projection part 55a is smaller than a projection amount B of the non-pressing surface side of the fixing roller 51.
