PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration isolator for a flexible structure, simple in structure, easily adjustable with no restrictions on strokes, easily applicable to a vibration isolation object, lightweight and excelling in damping performance over the whole frequency band while easily constituting a skyhook control system. SOLUTION: The vibration isolator installed at the flexible structure includes an angular velocity detector 106 for the vibration isolator itself; a torque generator 102; a torque reaction force generator 101 using driving force generated by the torque generator, as motive power; and a fixture 108 for fixing the vibration isolator to the flexible structure. The vibration isolator further includes a torque regulator 105 regulating the torque of the torque generator; a signal measuring instrument for measuring angular velocity signals obtained from the angular velocity detector; a signal processor for processing signals measured by the signal measuring instrument; and a controller for generating control signals to the torque regulator 105 using the signals obtained by the signal processor.
