VERTICAL TYPE CENTRIFUGAL PUMP AND AIR CONDITIONER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner incorporated with a drain pump excelling in silence. SOLUTION: The vertical type centrifugal pump is equipped with: a casing 19 having an inlet port 24 and a discharge port 26; a cover 21 connected to the casing 19 and defining with the casing 19 a pump chamber 20 communicating with the inlet port 24 and the discharge port 26; and a rotor 22 rotatably contained in the pump chamber 20. The cover 21 is equipped with: a cylindrical boss part 30 projecting from its central part to the opposite side of the pump chamber and provided with a through-hole 30a through which the spindle 15a of a drive motor 15 connected to the rotor 22 passes; an inner cylindrical part 31 formed to enclose the boss part 30; and an outer cylindrical part 23 formed to enclose the inner cylindrical part 31. The inner cylindrical part 31 has an overflow passage 31a communicating with its inner peripheral side and outer peripheral side, and the outer cylindrical part 23 has an overflow port communicating with its inner peripheral side and outer peripheral side.
