PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer device of a clamp method achieved in high speed transfer while suppressing a probability of the collapse of luggage. SOLUTION: The transfer device 100 for transferring the gripped luggage 200 includes: a first contact body 111; a second contact body 112 cooperating with the first contact body 111 to grip the luggage; and a first gripping mechanism 121. The first contact body contacts with the luggage 200, and is held rotatably around a rotary shaft extended at right angles with respect to a luggage gripping direction being a horizontal direction. The first contact body has a cross-sectional shape having a first radius r1 that is a distance from the rotary shaft to the outer periphery, and a second radius r2 that is a distance from the rotary shaft to the outer periphery and shorter than the first radius. The first gripping mechanism generates a grip force F to grip the luggage by rotating the first contact body 111 around the rotary shaft so as to shorten a distance between the tip corresponding portion of the first radius r1 and the second contact body 112.
