PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device maintaining high image quality even at the distal end of a recording medium where the image quality is easily deteriorated, and having goog balance between recording quality and recording speed. SOLUTION: In recording at the top and rear ends not supported by both conveying means on the upstream side and downstream side of a recoding position in the conveying direction of the recording medium, the recording width (the number of nozzles actually discharging ink) of a recording head is reduced and the conveyance amount of the recording medium is reduced according to the recording width as well. Further, the proportion of the reduction is made different properly according to the size of the recording medium, to respond to the needs of a user such that the recording speed has priority or the recording quality has priority.
