PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion apparatus of a road bridge, which reduces noises occurred during passing of vehicles and maintains the surface flatness of the road bridge without impairing the draining performance. SOLUTION: The deformation in the width direction of an elastic member 1 as part of the bridge surface of the road bridge absorbs the expansion/contraction thereof, and the main groove 5 extending in the longitudinal direction is formed on the surface of the elastic member 1, wherein the upper side of the main groove 5 in the groove depth direction is formed into a wave shape, while the lower side into a straight shape. Furthermore, the boundary between the upper side and the lower side of the main groove 5 in the groove depth direction is positioned at the height of 1/3 to 2/3 of the groove depth of the main groove 5.
