<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal apparatus for easily, reliably and effectively extracting conversion/prediction candidates of character input without needing any external communication, advance setup, or the like, and to provide a character input candidate extraction method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: Paired feature data are created by adding attribute information to the items of personal information based on the personal information on a recipient, and a candidate corresponding to reading is extracted from a database in character input. Whether feature attributes applied to the extracted candidate correspond to feature attributes applied to the paired feature data of the recipient is determined.
