The compensator has a tubular interior body (1) made of metal, and a metallic, gas-tight and flexible outer casing (2) surrounding a flexible section of the body and welded at its ends with the body. The body consists of a one-piece metal tube (9) e.g. smooth steel tube, with form-stable connection ends (4, 4') and a flexible tubing section (3) produced by a laser cut, where the tubing section includes form-fittingly coupled ring elements (5). The flexible tubing section includes a spiral strip produced by a continuous section, where edges of the strip form a meander line (8).
