1,151,824. Coke oven doors. SIMONCARVES Ltd. 24 Aug., 1967 [25 Aug., 1966], No. 38963/67. Heading C5E. A door assembly for a horizontal coke oven includes a plurality of first catch devices 20 . . . 22 each adapted in the closed position to engage a second catch device 15 fixed to the door frame 12, each device 22 being adapted to engage pressure-distributing means which contact the door 50 above and below the device 22 so that the weight of the door provides sealing pressure via the devices 15, 20 . . . 22, and the pressure-distributing means. These means comprise pairs of plates 30 extending above and below pins 20, 22, see Fig. 4 (not shown), and secured as by pins 32 to limbs 17 on the door, the plates 30 being joined at the level of the pins 22 by a plate 35 bearing spaced members 37. Pressure is transmitted from the pin 22 via parts 37, 35, 30 to the door parts 17, 16. Conventional means 24 . . . (29) are provided for equalizing the pressure exerted by the different pins 20, see Fig. 1 (not shown). In a modification, see Figs. 7 to 10 (not shown), the parts 37 are omitted and the pin 22 bears against the walls of slots (142) in the plates 30. |
