As the package 17, Fig. 1, increases in diameter the package support 7, 11 rotates clockwise relatively to the structure 1 rigid with a support 2. The structure 1 has two complementary cams 5 on which cam followers 12 carried by the support 7, 11 roll. The arrangement is such that the pressure exerted on the package 17 gradually reduces to zero as the rollers 12 reach the crests of the cams 5. After passing the crests of the cams 5 the reaction between the cams 5 and the rollers 12 is such as to create an upward force on the arm 16 supporting the package 17. The package is rotated by a driving cylinder 18. In Fig. 5 (not shown) the spring 13 is replaced by a piston and cylinder arrangement. The profile of the cams 5 is so designed that a substantially constant pressure will be maintained between the bobbin and the driving cylinder.</p> |
