<p>[Object] To provide a large torque at a rotating shaft and to increase support rigidity of a bearing without increasing the outside diameter of a component that is built in a motor. [Solving Means] An angular indexing apparatus for a machine tool includes a rotating shaft 40, to which a member that is rotationally driven 11 is secured; a housing 30, which surrounds the outer periphery of the rotating shaft 40 and which is mounted to and removed from the body of the machine tool; bearings B1, B2, disposed between the housing 30 and the rotating shaft 40; and driving means, provided between the housing 30 and the rotating shaft 40, and rotating the rotating shaft 40 to index an angular position. The driving means uses drive motors M1, M2, M3, each including a motor rotor and a motor stator disposed concentrically around the rotating shaft 40 in the housing 30. The plurality of the drive motors M1, M2, M3 are disposed in series so as to be separated from each other in an axial direction of the rotating shaft 40. The plurality of the bearings B1, B2 are disposed so as to be separated from each other in the axial direction. A multiple-row roller bearing capable of supporting an axial load and a radial load is used for the bearing B2 closest to the side of the member that is rotationally driven 11 among the bearings.
