PURPOSE: A truss structure, having an upper chord of an open cross section, and a construction method thereof are provided to improve the construction of truss bridge and to reduce steel materials. CONSTITUTION: A truss structure comprises an U-shaped upper chord with open cross section(140), a plurality of lower chords(110), a diagonal member(120), and a vertical member. One end of the diagonal member is formed in curved shape to be fixed. The other end of the diagonal member is cut in a straight line to be positioned close to the upper chord. One end of the vertical member is formed on the curved surface to be fixed to the lower chord.
