<p>A spring 600 comprises a plurality of individual resilient arms 614, the spring having a substantially planar form in an unloaded state and rotational symmetry of at least order two about a symmetry axis perpendicular to the plane of the spring. The spring 600 further comprises: an inner hub 616 and an outer hub 618, the inner hub 616 being radially inward with respect to the outer hub 618. The plurality of resilient connecting arms 614 are each connected at an inner end to the inner hub 616 and at an outer end to the outer hub 618, the plurality of resilient connecting arms 614 being configured to provide a restoring force parallel to the symmetry axis when the inner and outer hubs 616, 618 are displaced relative to each other along the symmetry axis. The inner hub 616, the outer hub 618 and each of the plurality of resilient connecting arms 614 are formed as physically separate elements and are connected to each other during assembly to form the spring 600. Also disclosed is a kit of parts for constructing the spring 600, a piston and cylinder assembly including the spring 600 and a method of manufacturing the spring 600.</p> |
