<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-function machine which improves operability after the end of an auto-clear function. <P>SOLUTION: In a copying machine 1001 capable of acquiring predetermined information from equipment on a LAN 1006 and realizing a plurality of functions including a network display function for displaying information based on said predetermined information, an operating section 2012 of the copying machine 1001 receives inputs via an operating screen and displays the operating screen associated with each function. According to the auto-clear function, set values associated with predetermined functions are reset to initial values when no input operation has been performed via the operating section 2012 over a predetermined time period, and the operating section 2012 is caused to display an operating screen associated with a predetermined function. A controller unit 2000 of the copying machine 1001 determines whether the copying machine should be operated in a first mode in which disconnection from the network is carried out or in a second mode in which connection to the network is maintained.
