A tool for boring holes of different sizes comprises a body 1, Figs. 1, 2, having a pilot 3, cutter arms 5 pivoted to the body at 7, and links 10 connected to the arms at 11, and housed in grooves 12 in an adjusting ring 13, the latter being connected to a fine adjustment ring 14. A lug 17 on ring 14 projects into a bore 16 in ring 13, and a screw 18 passes through the wall of bore 16 into lug 17. The screw is retained by a locking ring 19, and a spring-urged plunger 22 carried by a ring 25, engages in one of a series of depressions 28 in ring 14, so that the cutting diameter can be adjusted by rotating ring 25 to disengage the plunger, and then rotating ring 13. A centring collar 31 is provided for use when drilling deep holes. In a modification, arms 5 are connected to links 32, pivoted to adjusting ring 13, Figs. 5, 6, the ring having grooves 34 into which a pair of keys 35 is inserted when the cutting diameter is set. The diameter of centring device 38 is adjustable. In a further modification, arms 44, Fig. 7, are more robust and the pilot is in the form of a drill 46, suitable for cutting metals. |
