Cover with wear-resistant surface and method for its production

The cover (10) made of cast iron, comprises an abrasion stressed surface, which has wearing layer (30), which is partially formed in section-wise manner through a white solidification of the cast iron and has a Brinell-hardness of less than 350 HBW. The abrasion stressed surface has a slip resistance, which is formed through a fine structure in the cast iron. The fine structure has a groove height of 2-8 mm. An independent claim is included for a method for manufacturing a cover.
