An organopolysiloxane consists essentially of (a) dimethylsiloxane units, and (b) at least one <FORM:1097487/C3/1> unit per molecule. R is an alkyl radical with at least 14 carbon atoms and n=1 or 2. There is an average of 1 to 12 (b) units for every 20 (a) units present and an average of 4 to 100 (a) units per molecule. Compositions are also claimed containing 1 to 100% by weight of the polymeric siloxane and up to 99% by weight of an organic diluent; the latter may be any material conventionally used as a fibre lubricant, e.g. non-drying organic oils, hydrocarbon lubricants, alkylene polymers and alkylene oxide polymers.ALSO:A fibre finishing composition comprises a polymer consisting essentially of (a) dimethyl-siloxane units and (b) at least one <FORM:1097487/D1-D2/1> unit per molecule. R is an alkyl radical with at least 14 carbon atoms and n=1 or 2. There is an average of 1 to 12 (b) units for every 20 (a) units present and an average of 4 to 100 (a) units per polymer molecule. The composition may also comprise 1 to 100% by wt. of the polymeric siloxane with up to 99% by wt. of an organic diluent, e.g. non-drying oils, hydrocarbon lubricants, alkylene polymers and alkylene oxide polymers. The compositions are particularly suitable for lubricating cotton and acrylic fibres. |
