[Also in Division F2] A rotor blade mounting for a rotary wing aircraft comprises an arm 2, attached to the rotor head 1, formed with two spaced-apart spanwiseextending arms 8b which are bridged by two panels 8a, 13a each of part-spherical shape. An inwardly-extending extension of the rotor blade 3 comprises a pitch control arm 3a and two spaced-apart arms 9b bridged by two panels 9a, 14a also of part spherical shape. Blocks 10, 15 of elastomeric material reinforced by metal plates are bonded to the mutuallyopposite faces of the panels 8a, 9a and 13a, 14a. Instead of being bonded to concave surfaces of the panels as shown in Fig. 1, the resilient blocks may be bonded to convex surfaces and in each embodiment the resilience of the blocks absorb compressive loads due to centrifugal forces and permits pitch, drag, and flapping movements of each blade. |
