The head 2 of a multitrack tape recorder is shifted to change tracks by a cam and ratchet assembly 11 actuated by an electromagnet 9 but driven by the transport motor 19. The electromagnet is energized by a manual switch 13 or stop-foil contacts 14 to retract its armature 25 and allow a spring-loaded lever 10 to pivot clockwise drawing pawl 16 over the ratchet 11 and engaging an eccentric 8 with flywheel shaft 30. The eccentric is thus driven to rotate the lever 10 counterclockwise to step the ratchet 11 one increment. The head 2 is adjustably mounted on a plate 12 riding on a face cam integral with the ratchet. The recorder includes a microswitch 7 to energize the motor 19 when a cassette is properly located by guides 35, rollers 34 and spring loaded trunnion 5.</p> |
