PURPOSE: A portable terminal and operation method thereof are provided to periodically and automatically change the sound effect. CONSTITUTION: A display unit(151) displays a motion-screen corresponding to operation. A control unit(180) sets automatic change about the sound effect. The control unit receives ranking information from a designated site when accessing change period of the sound effect. The control unit displays the received ranking information on a display unit. If the change of effect sound is selected, the control unit downloads music file corresponding to the ranking information form the site. The control unit sets the downloaded music file as sound effect.
