The unit (20) has a motif layer produced from a liquid crystal material (26). The liquid crystal material has a homogeneous orientation (32) in one motif-producing zone and has an isotropic or homeotropic orientation in another motif-producing zone, so that a motif produced by the zones is visible when viewed through a polarizer. An inorganic adjustment layer (24) is formed from aluminum or from aluminium oxide, and a metallic reflector is formed from a metallized plastic foil. The material is arranged over an adjustment layer, which is formed from a linear photopolymer. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a security unit. |
