PURPOSE: A method for controlling a CE device and the CE device are provided to control the CE device to enable rapid booting. CONSTITUTION: A contact sensing unit(110) senses the contact to a CE device, and includes at least one sensor for sensing the contact. A judgment unit(120) tries to figure out the intention of a user based on the information on the contact based on contact time, contact-duration time and so on. A booting unit(130) performs a booting operation according to a booting mode if the contact is judges as a booting request. A control unit(140) determines the operation mode of the CE device and controls the CE device to be operated according to the operation mode.
