The machine has two movable treating units fixed to an armature, and a transmission system driving the movable treating units. Two drive groups are connected to a main transmission axle, where each drive group drives the movable treating units. The drive groups comprise corresponding transmission axles (12a, 12b). A mechanical measuring device (20) evaluates the distortion difference between the drive groups. An uncoupling device disconnects the main transmission axle when the calculated distortion difference is greater than determined maximum value.
