PURPOSE: A passenger number counting method using an image and a device thereof are provided to accurately count the number of passengers through a simple operation. CONSTITUTION: A passenger number counting method using an image comprises the steps of: continuously an image of passengers from different two points; removing a background from the obtained image and extracting a passenger region from the image; finding a central point in the extracted passenger region; and determining a movement direction by tracing the obtained central point.
