BACKLIGHT UNIT AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a liquid crystal display using the same are provided to reduce abnormal discharge since an overlapped area between fluorescent substance and an outer electrode is reduced, and gas pressure and the content of argon are adjusted. CONSTITUTION: Fluorescent substance is applied on the inner wall of a glass tube(21). The inner space of the glass tube surrounded by the fluorescent substance is filled with mixed gas. Multiple EEFLs comprise an outer electrode(22) covering the end of the glass tube. Fluorescent substance(23) and an outer electrode are not overlapped. The fluorescent substance and the outer electrode are separated from each other.
