<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery, along with a method of manufacturing the same, capable of preventing damage on an electrode plate in joining to an electrode tab. <P>SOLUTION: One embodiment of the secondary battery includes an electrode assembly having the electrode plate formed of a positive electrode plate with a positive electrode tab joined and a negative electrode plate with a negative electrode tab joined, and a separator. At least one of the positive electrode tab and the negative electrode tab is joined to a plain part on which active material of the electrode plate is not coated.
