PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed battery capable of quickly releasing gas generated inside the battery to an outside of the battery. SOLUTION: The sealed battery includes: a spiral electrode body where a strip positive electrode and a strip negative electrode are wound spirally via strip separators; an exterior can to hold the spiral electrode body; and a sealing plate to seal an opening of the exterior can. A width of the separator is bigger than that of both the positive electrode and the negative electrode, and also the spiral electrode body has the separators sticking out on both ends of the same. An extruded region of the separators on the sealing plate side has gas permeability, and at least a part of the extruded region of the separator on a can bottom side has no gas permeability.
