PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of evaluating a secondary battery capable of reliably carrying out both of a thermodynamic evaluation and an electrochemical evaluation for one battery. SOLUTION: In the evaluation method, an open circuit voltage measuring process for measuring an open circuit voltage at a plurality of temperatures of the secondary battery to be evaluated, a potential change measuring process for measuring a potential change of the secondary battery while charging states are changed, after the open circuit voltage measuring process, and a balanced potential measuring process for measuring the balanced potential of the secondary battery, after the potential change measuring process, are carried out repeatedly. While an entropy variation in each of the charging states is calculated based on the open circuit voltage at the plurality of temperatures measured in each of the charging states, a chemical diffusion coefficient in each of the charging states is calculated based on the balanced potential of the secondary battery measured in each of the charging states and the potential change of the secondary battery. An evaluation of the secondary battery is carried out based on the entropy variation and the chemical diffusion coefficient in each of the charging states. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
