HIV PEPTIDE, ANTIGEN, VACCINE COMPOSITION, IMMUNOASSAY KIT, AND METHOD FOR DETECTING ANTIBODY INDUCED BY HIV

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: novel peptides based on an HIV gag p24 protein-preserved region; antigens isolated or bonded to a carrier containing at least one of the peptides; vaccine compositions containing at least one of the antigens; immunoassay kits; and methods for detecting antibodies induced by human immunodefficiency virus (HIV) or HIV-specific peptides by using the antigens. SOLUTION: The novel and modified peptides having potency to induce HIV-1-specific immunoresponse without antagonizing to cytotoxic T cell activity are provided to achieve preventive and therapeutic vaccine effective to HIV. The peptides are based on a preserved region of HIV gag p24 protein. Isolated antigens or those in a form binding to a carrier, containing at least one of the peptides are provided. Vaccine compositions containing at least one of the antigens, immunoassay kits and methods for detecting the antibodies induced by HIV or HIV-specific peptides by using the antigens are also provided.
