PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a speed in node information acquisition by means of traverse processing, which conforms to a traverse request, while using a limited memory area in an effective way. SOLUTION: A node information reading-ahead section 15 starts the next operation when a retrieval result which includes node information on a node identified by retrieval processing which conforms to a node retrieval request transmitted from a client terminal 20 is returned to the client terminal 20. By using the node identified in the retrieval processing, as a reference point node, the node information read-ahead section 15 reads ahead node information on the value of a node in a range which is preliminarily determined to the reference point node on the hierarchal structure of a structured document in an XML database (XMLDB) 11 including the reference-point node, as the node information on adjacent nodes, from the XMLDB 11 to a memory 16.
